The Tomahawk Chop...aka the Caveman Steak. For the testosterone-filled
Carnivore in your life, we give you the heartiest and manliest of all grill
steaks. Unleash his primal self by allowing
him to grill this enormous piece of red meat over an open flame. But, be warned, that animal may well not be contained. He
will stop shaving, allowing only the wind to comb his hair, and his unbathed
body will start smelling like his gym bag, or your daughter’s shoes. He will start wearing a loincloth on hot
summer days, and a Kangaroo pelt to get through the chilly nights (remember the
one you brought back from Australia as a souvenir?). And then, watch as he attacks and pillages
the neighbor’s garage, taking….not asking, the riding lawnmower with the orange
rims he has coveted for so many years. He
will forgo utensils, rather using his hands to premasticate his food. But, don’t worry, it is only for one day….this day….Grill Day...his day….Memorial Day. Come Tuesday, he will return to
normal and once again help with the dishes, fold laundry, and pick up after
himself, just like before….Well…OK….we won’t promise you that, but we can
promise everyone will love this steak!!!
So, what is the Tomahawk Chop? Well, only the ultimate ‘wow-factor’
steak. The Tomahawk Chop is an on-the bone Rib Steak, cut from the Fore-rib
with the entire rib bone left intact. The bone is Frenched, leaving the long
bone exposed and providing an impressive presentation. Flavor is imparted from
both the marbling and from the bone during roasting, giving this ribeye a
unique flavor profile. Your manly man
needs no tongs for this steak as he can just grab the giant bone, singeing the flesh on his hands, as he flips it to the other side.
CookDC is Doubling Down and making
it Wagyu! And, not only is a Tomahawk
Chop impressive enough with just an average grade of meat, these Tomahawks are Wagyu Beef, which
is a Japanese bread of cattle renowned for its superior marbling. Wagyu is the same breed used for Kobe Beef,
however that is a label only used for cattle raised in the Kobe Region of
Japan. Most Wagyu now comes from
Australia, as does ours, and is sometimes referred to as Australian Kobe (got
to hand it to the marketing department, that is like saying California
Champagne or a Mexican Chianti).
Given the size of the meat, we are selling this as a meal for 3 Adults, but possibly 4, and we also are providing a Double the Protein option for those with heartier appetites. Or, better yet, buy two kits and invite the in-laws over! We are sure your Father-in-Law will don the loincloth next to your husband! The steak will be served with our world famous (well, not really) Warm Pesto Potato Salad, and Grilled Ratatouille.
Time to Cook: 45 min. (Steak will take 30 min. and need to rest for 15 min. / Ratatouille vegetables need to be prepped)
