Brätwurst translates to “Brät,” meaning minced meat, and “wurst,” meaning sausage. Traditionally Brätwursts are made from either veal or pork, or both and seasoned with ginger, nutmeg, coriander, or caraway. Traditional recipes call for both cream and eggs in their preparation and can vary widely throughout the different regions of Germany.
The Bratwursts will be poached in beer with traditional German spices, such as Caraway, Coriander, and Mustard Seeds. The sausage will then either be grilled or pan fried to crisp the outside. The sausages will be served with Sauerkraut and Kartoffelbrei: (Mashed potatoes) along with the Jus and Bavarian mustard.
