Meal Description
This is the
quintessential Julia Child dish, who popularized gourmet French cooking with
her seminal cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking. This is
a traditional French red wine braise (which is cooking tough cuts of meat for a
long time covered with liquid….stock, wine, water, etc.). We have altered the recipe to allow you to finish
the cooking in 30 min. We will Sous Vide
the Short Rib for 12 hours making this flavorful cut fork tender. The Bourguignon will be served with Whipped Potatoes
and Fava Beans, a little variation from the tradition of boiled potatoes and
buttered peas.
The 2009 movie, Julie & Julia, was based on the story of a writer who set out to cook all 524 recipes in that cookbook. Well, CookDC’s Chairman absolutely fell in love with this movie. She too attempted to make all 524 recipes, and while we won’t disclose how many she actually went through, the Beef Bourguignon has since become her absolute favorite Julia Child recipe. Despite all this, she still will not allow pegboard in her kitchen.
