Do you accommodate food allergies?

We do not at this time.  Do not order one of our meals if you, or anyone in your household, has a food allergy.  We store, portion, and package various meal kits containing all eight (8) major allergies (milk, wheat, egg, soy, fish, shellfish, peanuts, and tree nuts) and cannot guarantee that cross-contamination will not occur between meals.

Meal Kits

Do I need to know how to cook?

Our meal kits are suitable for foodies and cooking novices alike.  We provide guidance to enable anyone to successfully recreate a restaurant quality meal.  The principal reason for poor food quality is improperly cooking the protein, which is why thermometers will be available for purchase with all meal kits.  By knowing how you like your protein, such as medium-rare or medium (or well-done….), the use of thermometers will facilitate cooking to the desired temperature.

How much cooking is actually involved?

Our meal kits are designed to take approximately 30 minutes to prepare, while some may take an hour or more (we will specify in the directions).  Ingredients requiring more time will be prepared by us.  Our preferred cooking method for proteins is Sous Vide, for items such as ribs, duck confit, or corned beef, that requires several hours of cooking.  The cooked meat will come chilled and will require finishing preparation (such as searing and reheating).  We also will prepare items that need several hours for the flavors to combine, such as a guacamole or tzatziki sauce.

What is in the kit?

We provide all the ingredients necessary for two adult servings in one kit, however additional kits can be purchased depending on the household. Additionally, there are many add-on items to customize the meal kit, such as extra protein, kid's meals, dessert options, and next day breakfast options.

How long will the meal kit stay fresh? Can I cook it on a different night?

We encourage the meal kits to be cooked the day of delivery given some of the ingredients are already prepped. If you wish to cook your meal kit on a different night, please specify at checkout and ingredients with short shelf lives can be prepped by you the day of your choosing.

How is the meal packed?

The meal kit will come in a soft sided cooler with an ice pack to keep the items chilled.  All the ingredients will be in separate containers.

What should I order if I have a whole family to feed?

Our kits are typically designed for two adults, but sometimes for four adults.  We provide approximately 6 oz. of protein per serving.  For families with children 12 or older, we would recommend the purchase of an additional meal kit.  For smaller children, we have a double protein option that should suffice.  Additionally, we will typically offer kid's meals.

Where do you source your ingredients?

We only use local, high quality restaurant suppliers.  We attempt to source products that are both local, seasonal, and organic when possible.

The meals sell out quickly before I have a chance to purchase?

Our meal kits are offered a la carte and do not require a subscription as most of these services do.  Furthermore, our business continues to grow and we are expanding our capacity, but are limited in the amount of meal kits that can be produced.  Please send us an email at if there is a specific meal kit that you would like that has already been sold out.  We will do what we can.

Does the meal kit come with a recipe?

We prefer the term “guidance” rather than a recipe.  The quickest way for the home cook to become a chef is to explore their creative side and experiment with different ingredients and cooking methods.  So, we provide the instruction on how to prepare the meal kit, but fully encourage the home cook to add ingredients or alter the preparation of those provided based on their own experiences and taste.

What pantry items should I always keep in stock?

The home cook is expected to have the basics: salt, pepper, olive oil, and butter. A dry white wine, such as a Sauvignon Blanc or a Pinot Gris, is always handy to deglaze a pan, but not necessary. We will provide the smoked sea salt and the duck fat when needed.

Where do you currently deliver to?

We are currently focused on the DC Metro area, but can deliver to any State in the U.S. (send us an email at if you are outside the DC Metro area, and we will customize your delivery).

Do I need to be home to take delivery?

No, the meal will arrive in a cooler.

Do I get to keep the bag?

You are free to use your Cook de Cuisine bag as you wish.  We encourage repeat customers to leave out the bags on the day of delivery to be reused.

Can I specify where to place the meal kit – front porch, side door, etc?

Yes, please specify specific instructions during checkout.

Should I leave out a cooler?

While it is not necessary, we would be more than happy to leave the meal kit in a cooler already packed with ice.

How will I know when the package is delivered?

We use a delivery software that will text you once the package is delivered.

Can you deliver to a business or an office?

Yes, we do!  Please encourage your coworkers to place an order as well.  Also, tell your generous boss that we can make a custom order to treat the whole office to meal kits.

When is the weekly menu posted?

We post our menu at the end of the week for the following week’s meals.  We also email the menu so please sign up for our list if you haven't already done so.

How do you arrange the menu?

Our chefs are hard at work creating restaurant quality meals with seasonal, fresh, and interesting ingredient items.  We certainly welcome menu requests, so please let us know.

What days will you deliver?

We are currently only offering meals on Tuesday through Fridays.  We plan to soon offer meals from Sunday through Friday, with Sunday’s delivery meant to truly be a “Sunday Meal,” which will focus on larger, family style offerings taking slightly longer to prepare, but able to feed the grandparents and a sibling or two.

Am I required to subscribe?

No subscription required.  We sell our meals a la carte.

Do you cater to specific types of meals – vegetarian, gluten free, etc.?

As we grow and expand, we intend to offer several meal options per day and to cater to certain dietary restrictions.  We offer salads with most meals currently.

Do you provide nutritional and calorie information?

We do not provide this information at this time.  If you have a specific question, please send us an email at
